CEMGA : Le vice-amiral d’escadre Oumar Wade officiellement installé à la tête des Armées
Vice Admiral Oumar Wade was officially installed this morning as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (CEMGA) during a solemn ceremony held at Camp Dial Diop. The event took place under the chairmanship of the Minister of the Armed Forces, in the presence of high-ranking civilian and military authorities.
Vice Admiral Wade becomes the first officer from the Navy to receive the CEMGA command pennant, the highest position in the national military hierarchy.
In his inaugural address, the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces expressed his gratitude to the authorities and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the modernization and professionalization of the military. He pledged to tirelessly pursue the building of a professional army rooted in its core mission, readily deployable through its organization, republican in its principles, and dedicated to the socio-economic development of the nation.
Vice Admiral Oumar Wade also stressed the strategic role of the Armed Forces in consolidating peace and stability, highlighting their significant contribution to collective sub-regional security, in a context marked by persistent security challenges.
