I. Diop, 40, is being prosecuted for rape, abduction of a minor, and inciting debauchery. This married man is accused of having non-consensual sexual relations with T. Ba, aged 16. The events took place in 2022 in the Sante Yalla neighborhood of Pout.
That day, I. Diop and T. Ba were alone at home. I. Diop's wife was in Tivaouane and the girl's mother was at work. I. Diop allegedly took advantage of this to have sexual relations with T. Ba.
During the police investigation, the victim stated that on that day, I. Diop found her washing clothes and sat down next to her to chat, before inviting her to sit on his lap. "He made me sit on his lap and started showing me pornographic videos on his phone while touching me. And when I tried to get up, he went and locked the door of the house and then led me to his bedroom. He had sexual relations with me," the young woman explained. She then emphasized that she was not a virgin.
These statements by T. Ba allowed investigators to exonerate the accused of rape, abduction of a minor and incitement to debauchery.
In court, I. Diop denied the charges. He stated that he was in his room that day when he sensed someone's presence in the house. Going outside to investigate, he saw T. Ba enter his room with a man wearing dreadlocks. According to him, T. Ba had slept with another man and then accused him of rape. He believes his mother is behind this scheme because they had a falling out.
The public prosecutor requested that the charges be reduced from rape to indecent assault with violence, then retained the charges of abduction of a minor and incitement to debauchery. The prosecution then requested a five-year prison sentence.
The verdict is scheduled for November 25, 2025.
