Speaking on Seneweb's platform, Cheikh Oumar Diagne sharply criticized the Prime Minister's recent statements, accusing him of inconsistency and carelessness in exercising power.
According to him, "the Prime Minister is clearly unaware of his own prerogatives." He finds it particularly serious that a member of the executive branch could publicly express a lack of confidence in the judiciary, an institution central to the state. "When someone who belongs to the administration states they do not trust the justice system, it constitutes a real catastrophe," he declared.
The politician believes that an ordinary citizen making such statements would face prosecution for discrediting institutions. "The law must be the same for everyone," he insists, denouncing what he calls a "careless" approach to governance.
Beyond institutional matters, Cheikh Oumar Diagne also challenges the Prime Minister on values. He criticizes the disconnect between claimed religious references and certain policy directions. "He says the Prophet is his reference, but his actions don't follow that logic," he asserts.
He specifically cites the issue of gambling, arguing that its promotion or monetization contradicts the moral principles invoked. "When you claim to follow the Prophet, you must also fight against social ills like prostitution or alcoholism. It's not just a question of legality, but of values," he maintains.
In this context, he notes that "the Rally of Values" is, in his view, the only party that clearly claims this moral foundation.
Finally, addressing the sensitive issue of homosexuality legislation, Cheikh Oumar Diagne calls for national mobilization. He believes that "all of Senegal must unite behind the government" on this subject.
