Menton arraché, morsures au sein... Deux coépouses finissent en prison
The Thiès court of summary jurisdiction delivered its verdict this Friday in the case between N. Fall and F. Diop, two co-wives prosecuted for mutual assault and battery. The events took place in Méouane, in the Tivaouane department.
According to the case file, N. Fall caused injuries to his co-wife F. Diop resulting in a five-day temporary incapacity for work (ITT). In retaliation, F. Diop inflicted more serious injuries on him, resulting in a 21-day ITT.
In court, the two defendants admitted to the facts. They explained that the argument stemmed from an incident involving F. Diop's daughter, who had entered N. Fall's room to get a drink of water. When her mother tried to get her to leave the room, a verbal altercation broke out between the two women before escalating into a violent fight.
The two co-wives also admitted that this was not their first physical confrontation.
During the altercation, F. Diop bit N. Fall's chin, tearing off a piece of skin. She also injured N. Fall's right arm. For her part, F. Diop maintained that she had been bitten by her co-wife on the cheek, arm, and breast.
At the end of the debates, the public prosecutor had requested the application of the law.
In its verdict delivered this Friday, the court found the two defendants guilty of assault and battery. N. Fall was sentenced to two years' imprisonment, with one month to be served, while F. Diop received a 20-day prison sentence.
