Chute de «Docteur avortement» : huit personnes dont cinq femmes et le fournisseur de «Keur Serigne Bi» arrêtées
A network specializing in the online sale of abortion medication has been dismantled by the Special Cyber Division (DSC). The decisive operation led to the arrest of eight people, three men and five women.
The former ensured the supply and delivery of prohibited products, while the latter wanted to obtain them to terminate their pregnancies.
The first person implicated to fall is I. F, alias "Kara". According to L'Observateur, which mentions this story in its edition this Thursday, the latter is domiciled in Fass-Rufisque and administrator of the Tik Tok account "Doctor Abortion" from which he promoted drugs based on Misoprostol, a molecule used for voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion).
"He primarily targeted women, inviting them to contact him via WhatsApp to finalize orders," reports the newspaper of the Future Media Group. "When questioned, he admitted to being the user of the account and acknowledged being fully aware of the abortifacient effects of the drug he was selling."
According to the investigation, I. F. was acting in collusion with an individual identified as the network's supplier. This individual, based in "Keur Serigne Bi," has been arrested, according to L'Observateur. His name has not been released.
"A delivery driver, named Mr. D, was caught red-handed while making a delivery," the newspaper reports. "In his bag, investigators discovered three boxes of Misoprostol 200 mg. He admitted to carrying out this activity for several months, receiving a commission on each transaction."
As for the women in the group, the same source reports that they "stated they were unaware of the regulated nature of the sale of the substances [in question] as well as the health risks associated with their use."
L'Observateur reveals that several mobile phones, a motorcycle and boxes of tablets were seized and that those involved were brought before the prosecutor of the Rufisque High Court on Wednesday.
