COLLECTE ILLICITE DE DONNÉES À CARACTÈRE PERSONNEL ET CHANTAGE : Six mois ferme pour le pêcheur M. Boye
Twenty-five-year-old Mr. Boye accessed K. Diallo's phone and retrieved five intimate videos she thought she had deleted. He used them to blackmail her and her lover, Y. Maïga, demanding money under threat of releasing the videos. However, the two victims, who live in Siogo, filed a complaint with the gendarmerie.
He was arrested for illegally collecting personal data, distributing images contrary to public morals and extortion, and then placed under a detention order.
In court, the defendant Mr. Boye stated that he never shared these videos in which the widow K. Diallo had sexual relations with men, including the old Y. Maïga.
But the two victims claimed that Mr. Boye asked them for money and that they gave him sums to dissuade him from sharing the videos. Nevertheless, the obscene images of Y. Maïga and K. Diallo ended up in the hands of several young people in Diogo.
"When I saw young people mocking me, I realized they had seen the video. That's when I confronted the village chief before contacting the gendarmerie. Mr. Boye has ruined my life. I'm a father and I'm in so much pain," said Y. Maïga. K. Diallo confirmed that the five videos were on his phone.
The public prosecutor has requested a 2-year prison sentence for Mr. Boye.
The judge acquitted the defendant of the charge of disseminating images contrary to public morals, but found him guilty of collecting personal data and extortion, then sentenced him to six months in prison.
