A homeless man nicknamed "Boy Sérère" was found Wednesday afternoon lying in a pool of blood at the Colobane taxi garage. His alleged killer, a 21-year-old repeat offender, admitted to premeditating the murder, having purchased the murder weapon after a fight.

Alerted yesterday Wednesday to the discovery of a lifeless body at the Colobane taxi garage, police officers from the Bel-Air district police station arrived at the scene where they found the lifeless body of a man known by the nickname "Boy Sérère", lying in a pool of blood and covered with a sheet.

The autopsy revealed two deep wounds to the neck, near the carotid artery. According to garage owners, the victim was a homeless man who had frequented the place for several years. Initial investigations led to the identification and arrest of the suspect, A. Tine, a 21-year-old tailor residing in the public housing complex.

When questioned, the suspect admitted to committing the crime. He stated that the incident began with a fight between him and Boy Sérère around noon.

After the altercation, he went to the Colobane roundabout where he bought a knife for 500 CFA francs before returning to the scene and fatally stabbing his opponent. He claims, however, not to know the man, who reportedly lived in Pout.

The checks revealed that the two men are known to the police for having been brought before them for theft, possession of Indian hemp and vagrancy.

The investigations finally made it possible to formally identify the victim: he is A. Diouf, 32 years old, originally from Pout.

The body was taken to the morgue at the Main Hospital for an autopsy. The medical examiner's certificate of cause of death confirmed death due to a penetrating traumatic wound from a sharp object. The left lateral cervical wound severed the blood vessels in the neck and the left subclavian artery, resulting in massive hemorrhaging.

The suspect could be brought before a judge tomorrow, Friday. The motive for the crime is believed to be drug-related, according to testimonies gathered in Colobane by web TV channels.
