Condamnation des 18 supporters sénégalais au Maroc : La proposition de l’AJA à l’État
The Senegalese section of the Association of African Jurists (AJA – Senegal) has called on the Senegalese authorities to activate the mechanisms provided for in the judicial cooperation agreement linking the Republic of Senegal to the Kingdom of Morocco, with a view to transferring Senegalese nationals convicted and detained in that country.
In a statement, the organization said it is following with particular attention the situation of these detainees, who were incarcerated following final court decisions.
She recalls that the agreement concluded in 2004 between Dakar and Rabat includes provisions relating to the transfer of convicted persons, a mechanism intended to promote their social reintegration in their country of origin, while respecting the sovereignty of States and the authority of res judicata.
In a spirit of bilateral cooperation and African solidarity, AJA-Senegal suggests that the government, in consultation with the competent Moroccan authorities, take the necessary steps for the effective application of these provisions, in accordance with the laws in force.
The Senegalese section of the Association of African Jurists emphasizes that this approach is in line with respect for the rule of law, Senegal's international commitments and the fundamental rights of the people concerned.
