Condamné à 3 jours ferme pour usage de drogue : L’étudiant en philosophie voulait accélérer sa réflexion en période d’examen
Placed under arrest warrant on December 2nd, students OA Ly and S. Kane were tried this Friday in the Dakar court of flagrant offenses for possession and use of drugs.
According to the facts, on November 30, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers from the Point E police station's investigation unit, while on patrol near Magic Land, descended to the rocks along the clifftop where they apprehended the suspects, who were sitting facing the sea, for a routine check. A body search revealed half a small bag of marijuana in S. Kane's satchel. His companion, OA Ly, admitted to possessing the drugs.
In court, OA Ly, a philosophy student, admitted to the charges of possession and use of drugs. He stated that, being in the middle of exams, he wanted to smoke marijuana to speed up his thinking. As for S. Kane, a sociology student, he denied the charges against him, maintaining that he had simply taken his friend's bag to "show off."
The public prosecutor reprimanded them before requesting the application of criminal law. The defense, represented by Mr. Moussa Cissé, requested a suspended sentence.
Ultimately, the court found OA Ly guilty and sentenced him to three days in prison. S. Kane was acquitted.
