CONDUITE SOUS UNE FORTE PLUIE ET À UNE VITESSE EXCESSIVE : Un bus se renverse, fait un mort et 34 blessés
An accident of unprecedented violence occurred yesterday, around 10 p.m., between Sinthiou Malem and Koussanar. A bus overturned after skidding. The toll was high: 34 seriously injured and one dead. The victim was a 38-year-old Malian national named Chekou Sissao.
The victims were taken to the Tambacounda Regional Hospital. Initial testimonies gathered from the surviving passengers point to excessive speed as the cause of this fatal accident.
Firefighters and members of the Tambacounda gendarmerie company, dispatched to the scene, responded to the emergency by organizing rescue operations. The driver, Malick Diouf, who lives in Mbour, was arrested and taken into custody for manslaughter.
