Corniche : surpris en flagrant délit, un vendeur de brochettes déféré
A 26-year-old foreign national, JA Godwin, was arrested and then referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office by the Point E police station for selling meat unfit for consumption, endangering public health, vagrancy and illegal residence.
The events took place on March 12, around 2 p.m., on the Corniche-Ouest, according to Libération. Intrigued by the suspect's daily trips to the rocks with a bag, a witness discreetly followed him and caught him slitting a cat's throat with a broken bottle, while a second animal, already killed, lay beside it.
An alert was immediately given to a police officer present at the scene. The investigation revealed that Godwin regularly prepared kebabs which he sold to passersby and users of the Corniche-Ouest. The officer who arrested him also confirmed that he had previously purchased his kebabs.
During his interrogation, the same source adds, Godwin admitted the facts but maintained that the meat was intended solely for his personal consumption; a version that did not convince investigators in view of the testimonies attesting to his activity as a street vendor.
