Coup monté à Mbacké : une vente de moto en ligne cache une agression, le gang tombe avec un pistolet
The Mbacké urban police station, under the command of Commissioner Alioune Fall, arrested two members of a gang of assailants on Thursday, January 8. The suspects, BB Niang, 23, who presented himself as a merchant, and O. Guèye, 22, who claimed to be a mechanic, are being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery committed at night, and the use of bladed weapons, according to Seneweb sources.
A well-orchestrated ambush
According to the statement of the complainant, B. Fall, residing in Touba Dianatou, the events date back to January 7, 2026. On that day, he discovered an online advertisement from a man named BB Niang offering motorcycles for sale. Interested, he contacted him to express his intention to purchase one.
The two men agreed to meet in the Darou Salam extension district around 9 p.m. to finalize the transaction.
On site, they agreed on a price of 325,000 CFA francs. After handing the money over to BB Niang, the victim began checking the motorcycle's documents. It was at this precise moment that three young men on a motorcycle appeared and threatened him with machetes, claiming to have been informed of a motorcycle theft in the area and accusing B. Fall of being the perpetrator.
At knifepoint, the three assailants seized the motorcycle and 150,000 CFA francs that the victim had in his pocket. Throughout the attack, the vendor, BB Niang, appeared complicit by discreetly leaving the scene.
A swiftly conducted investigation
On Thursday, January 8, around 1 p.m., the victim went to the Mbacké urban police station to file a complaint. She stated that one of her friends knew BB Niang's address in Tenou Mame Cheikh.
Around 5 p.m. that same day, members of the investigation unit, accompanied by the victim and his friend, went to the suspect's home in Touba. They arrested him in his bedroom where they discovered the stolen motorcycle and the victim's cell phone, which the three assailants had also taken.
Damning confessions
When questioned about the presence of these items in his room, BB Niang claims that it was his friend O. Guèye who returned the motorcycle and the phone to him after the attack.
Further investigations led to the arrest of O. Guèye at his home in the Mboussobé neighborhood. A search of his room revealed a machete, a replica firearm, and 63,000 CFA francs.
When confronted by BB Niang, O. Guèye confirmed the latter's version and acknowledged that it was a coup they planned together, according to Seneweb sources.
The investigation is actively continuing with the elements of the Research Brigade in order to apprehend the two other members of the gang who are still at large.
