The director of the Ziguinchor Regional Center for University Social Services (CROUS/Z) promptly responded to recent accusations made by the staff representatives. Dr. Salif Baldé categorically refuted the allegations made by his colleagues, calling the situation a "non-event."

Far from the image of crisis portrayed by the union representatives, Dr. Baldé highlights the significant progress made during his tenure. He cites, in particular, the progress of the construction of a new university pavilion. This facility, with a capacity of 1,000 beds, is intended to structurally improve the living conditions of students at Assane Seck University.

On the sensitive issue of delayed salaries, a major point of contention with the union representatives, the director denies any structural problem. Dr. Salif Baldé suggests instead a temporary delay due to administrative constraints, explaining that an error in an account number during the fund transfer caused the setback. He emphasized that the salaries were paid on the 9th of the month, arguing that such a delay cannot be considered a delay in the regulatory sense of the term.

Regarding the case of employee Thierno Kandé, the director of CROUS/Z declined to comment further, noting that the matter remains pending before the courts. He did, however, clarify that this situation falls under administrative prerogatives related to the appointment of department heads.

Regarding the recruitment process, often criticized for its lack of transparency, Dr. Salif Baldé stated that hiring is now governed by rigorous criteria validated by the board of directors. According to him, this method aims precisely to break with past practices and guarantee fairness within the institution.
