Assises des Daaras : Thiès formule des recommandations fortes pour l’assainissement du secteur

Regional consultations on the Daaras (Koranic schools) were held this Monday, February 16th, at the Thiès Governorate, chaired by Ababacar Sadikh Niang, Deputy Governor of the region. This meeting is part of the preparations for the national consultations, which will be chaired by the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

Bringing together the various stakeholders in the sector, the meeting resulted in several major recommendations for better organization and effective management of daaras.

According to Ababacar Sadikh Niang, key points include support and funding for institutions, as well as assistance to stakeholders in the field, particularly in the area of training. The Deputy Governor noted that participants also emphasized the need to establish a robust legislative and regulatory framework to better structure the sector.

The administrative authority added that the development of a comprehensive map of daaras in Senegal was also mentioned as a priority, as well as capacity building for stakeholders and adaptation to information and communication technologies.

At the end of the discussions, a strong consensus emerged around a common objective: the reform of the daara sector. Ababacar Sadikh Niang expressed his confidence that these recommendations would be effectively taken into account during the national conference, for a sustainable and concerted reform of the sector.
