Dahra : Huit chauffeurs grévistes arrêtés après avoir caillassé un "War Gaindé"
Eight striking drivers, who were preventing their non-striking colleagues from transporting passengers to Dakar, were arrested yesterday at the Dahra exit. They are identified as CT, DT, OS, BF, AD, CK, DL, and IT.
These strikers erupted in anger when they learned that some of their colleagues intended to abandon them by calling off the strike. They reportedly deployed to the scene to try and prevent this, aiming to maintain the sector's paralysis. Those involved allegedly smashed the windshield of a "War Gaindé" vehicle transporting passengers to Dakar.
This act triggered an immediate response from the camp of non-striking drivers, ready to clash with the protesters.
Alerted, the gendarmes from the Dahra brigade, under the command of Warrant Officer Sène, went to the scene. Eight supporters of the strike were arrested and taken into custody for destruction of property, endangering the lives of others, obstructing the free movement of people, as well as for threats and assault.
