Dakar : 212 personnes interpellées lors d’une vaste opération policière nocturne
A large-scale police operation was conducted in Dakar on the night of Tuesday, December 23, to Wednesday, December 24, 2025, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. It was carried out under the supervision of Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng, head of the Regional Public Security Directorate (SRSP). The operation aimed to strengthen public safety, combat urban crime, and enforce existing laws and regulations. Several strategic areas of the capital were targeted.
A total of 212 people were arrested for various reasons, according to Seneweb sources. Among them, 117 were detained for identity checks and 44 for public intoxication. Eleven individuals were held for further investigation.
Regarding drug-related offenses, one person was arrested for offering and distributing kush, with 19 packets seized. Another was arrested for possession and trafficking of marijuana, involving 10 packets. Four people were arrested for possession for personal use of marijuana (four packets and two joints), while two others were arrested for possession and group use of marijuana, including one loose packet. One person was also arrested for possession and use of a hookah (shisha).
Furthermore, police arrested four individuals for theft, one person for conspiracy and aggravated theft committed at night, three others for nighttime theft, and one individual caught in the act of aggravated theft committed at night using a vehicle. Two other people were arrested for conspiracy and armed robbery.
The report also states that there were nine arrests for soliciting, six for vagrancy, one for visa fraud and four for breach of trust.
In addition, 242 items were seized for various traffic violations and four motorcycles were impounded.
This operation is part of the security strategy implemented by the authorities to preserve public order and ensure the peace of mind of the population, particularly during this end-of-year period.
