Large-scale security operation in Dakar and dismantling of a drug trafficking network in Podor!

As part of the security of people and their property, the National Gendarmerie has intensified its actions on the ground, with convincing results. Two major operations carried out in recent days illustrate the determination of law enforcement in the fight against crime in all its forms.

An exceptional mobilization in Dakar

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Dakar Gendarmerie Company deployed considerable resources for a vast security operation reinforced by a squadron of the Gendarmerie Intervention Legion and two dog teams. It took place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.

Covering almost all of the localities under its territorial jurisdiction, this intervention mobilized significant logistical and human resources. The objective was clear: to effectively combat the burglaries that are a concern for the capital's population.

Proven results in Dakar

The balance sheet is:

- 84 people of various nationalities were arrested, including 6 women and 78 men

- 13 motorcycles and 2 vehicles immobilized

- 9 computers seized

- 75,000 CFA francs collected in fixed fines

- 5 kilograms of Indian hemp seized as well as alcoholic beverages and a mobile phone

Drug network dismantled in Podor

At the same time, in the Saint-Louis region, the Podor territorial brigade, supported by the Podor Surveillance and Intervention Squadron (ESI), carried out a targeted operation against drug trafficking.

On the night of September 25-26, 2025, in Thillé Boubacar, gendarmes arrested five individuals heavily involved in drug trafficking. This intervention followed the exploitation of intelligence gathered during an operational patrol, demonstrating the importance of field work and intelligence in the fight against crime.

A significant seizure of narcotics

The search carried out at the homes of the accused resulted in the seizure of:

- 2.5 kilograms of Indian hemp

- 248,200 CFA francs, representing the proceeds of the sale

- 7 cell phones

- 2 motorcycles of the KTM and Husin brands
