Décès du khalife de Darou Khoudoss : Le témoignage de Sonko, depuis l’étranger
This Friday, reactions and testimonies have been pouring in since the announcement of the death of Serigne Ahmadou Mokhtar Mbacké, caliph of Darou Khoudoss. From abroad, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko spoke about his ties to the deceased. Below is his full testimony.
"In 2017, one of his chamberlains contacted me to inform me of the holy man's wish to invite me to Touba. 'He would like you to bring him copies of your two works when you come,' he told me. So I went to Touba, where I stayed for forty-eight hours with Serigne Ahmadou Mokhtar Mbacké, caliph of Darou Khoudouss.
During these two days, we had long and rich conversations about religion and the country, its challenges and its hopes. I discovered a man of exceptional spiritual, cultural, intellectual, and human stature. This stay marked the beginning of a deep relationship, nourished by affection, respect, and sincere admiration.
At this time of mourning, I wish to express my deepest condolences to the General Caliph, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, to the Mouride community, as well as to the entire Senegalese people. May Allah's mercy and forgiveness accompany him in the hereafter."
