Décès, sinistrés, récoltes détruites… : le bilan macabre des inondations de 2025
The floods of the last rainy season caused widespread damage across the country. During a workshop to assess the management of this high-risk season, the Ministry of Water and Sanitation released the extent of the damage. According to Le Soleil, the department headed by Cheikh Tidiane Dièye reported 20 deaths nationwide due to the torrential rains.
The report also mentions 8,336 people affected, and damaged roads and bridges in Bakel, Matam, and Tambacounda. "Furthermore," the national daily continues, "946 hectares of farmland were destroyed and 296 buildings were flooded. The damage also affected the agricultural sector, particularly in Touba and Tambacounda."
