Décès tragique d'un Nigérien à la Médina : Le chef de chantier et un ouvrier déférés pour homicide involontaire
The Medina district police station brought before the public prosecutor at the Dakar High Court on Friday two men: AA Dièye, a bricklayer born in 1998, and A. Lawaly, a 22-year-old Nigerian laborer. They are accused of manslaughter, according to Seneweb sources.
This case originated from a tragic workplace accident on a construction site. On October 23, 2025, Tairou Adamo, a 36-year-old Nigerian laborer, was seriously injured while working on the site.
According to testimonies gathered during the investigation, A. Lawaly, the victim's compatriot and himself a laborer on the construction site, was handling concrete on the 4th floor of the building under construction, when a large stone broke loose and shattered Mr. Adamo's right shoulder, inflicting a serious injury and causing an immediate loss of consciousness.
He was quickly referred to the Idrissa Pouye General Hospital in Grand-Yoff. Despite the care provided, including surgery, Mr. Adamo succumbed to his injuries on December 3, 2025, at 11:16 a.m., after more than a month of hospitalization.
According to the certificate of cause of death established by the forensic doctor, Dr. A. Gassama, the death occurred "secondarily to infectious neurological and hemodynamic complications following a thoraco-dorco-lumbar polytrauma which caused a poly-fracture of the vertebrae benefiting from a surgical intervention".
The police investigation established that AA Dièye was the site manager. The victim, who was paid 4,000 CFA francs per day, worked for him. As the site manager, he is now facing charges, as is the worker A. Lawaly, whose actions caused the accident.
