«Déchirures et perte récente de l’hymen» : la fugueuse et « son sauveur»
Charged with kidnapping and rape of a minor, Mr. Camara (22 years old), a young apprentice driver, was arrested and imprisoned at the Sédhiou Detention and Correctional Center. He faces a lengthy sentence for having detained a runaway teenager.
According to L'Observateur, the events date back to November 29th. Sixteen-year-old R. Barry had run away to stay with her uncle, a police officer, in Sédhiou. She encountered the accused at the bus station. He offered to help her, but ultimately took her to a room in his employer's house. He held her captive there for two days (from Saturday to Monday morning).
During this period, the newspaper of the Future Media Group reports, he had sexual relations with her under duress. The teenager was found with blood-stained underwear. Alerted, her parents took her to the Amadou Tidiane Bâ Regional Hospital where a gynecological examination confirmed the violence of the act, revealing several tears in her genital area and the recent loss of her hymen.
When questioned upon his return from Dakar, Mr. Camara admitted to having had sexual relations with the victim, but he attempted to downplay the intention, claiming that "the idea came to him in the middle of the night" and that he "did not intend to abuse [her]."
