Dépouille du motocycliste heurté par le minibus Tata : L’hôpital dément avoir demandé de l'argent
The Idrissa Pouye Grand Yoff General Hospital (HOGIP) has just broken its silence on the accusations brought against it in the case of Mamadou Camara, the motorcyclist who was fatally struck by the driver of Tata minibus line 61.
"Malicious or ill-informed individuals then spread false news on social media, alleging that the hospital had asked the deceased's parents for money. It is important to clarify Senegalese public opinion on the various statements made on social media," said the hospital's Communications Unit.
In its press release reviewed by Seneweb, Hogip denies having claimed any sum of money. "At no point during the procedure was money requested from his family or loved ones," it states. It specifies that its premises house an Automobile Guarantee Fund office that handles support issues and all formalities related to accident victims.
Also, Hogip reports that on the morning of Saturday, August 23, 2025, young people of unknown origin came to throw stones at the morgue and also attacked a person who was waiting for his body, on the grounds that they wanted to recover the body of the deceased. This, by "attempting to interrupt the autopsy which was being carried out by the specialists on the basis of a requisition from the gendarmerie."
To address these actions, Grand-Yoff police officers were alerted. They quickly deployed to prevent irreparable damage from occurring. They then proceeded to assess the damage caused to the first floor.
"Those responsible for spreading false news through social media and attacking our users and infrastructure are urged to exercise greater restraint and a sense of responsibility. Failing this, the Idrissa Pouye General Hospital reserves the right to file a complaint and refer the matter to the appropriate authorities," he warned.
