Axe Diassap - Lalane : Les élèves en danger face à la recrudescence des accidents de la route
It was parents of students concerned about the safety of their children, on the eve of the start of the school year, who organized a sit-in to denounce the recurring fatal accidents caused by the poor condition of the Diassap - Lalane axis, on the Tivaouane road, built by Sotracom.
These residents of the villages of Lalane, Ndiobène, Fandène Zone Nord and surrounding areas, some 2 km from Thiès, express their dismay at the danger faced by the students of the Lalane primary school and Cem. They say they are tired of paying the price for the shoddy work on a new road without speed bumps.
Jean Saint Latyr Wade, their spokesperson, said he expects "the authorities to take over this road, which was poorly built by Sotracom. It is narrow and without speed bumps; this represents a danger for the students of the Cem and the primary school of Lalane." Not to mention the ordeal of the vendors installed on the side of this road, who suffer from the non-compliance with the scales of their expenses.
"Our mothers have been carrying out their small business activities here for a long time. The difficulties began with Sotracom, with many tragic accidents due to the road being in a pitiful state."
Instead of the speed bumps they requested, local residents were given boat ropes, which were destroyed overnight by drivers. Unfortunately, children from the villages of Thiawoune Mbambara and Thiawoune Peulh are forced to cross this road to get to their various schools, with all the risks involved.
