Diffusion illégale de chaînes TV à Ouakam : la police met la main sur 81 décodeurs
As part of the fight against audiovisual piracy, the National Brigade for the Fight Against Piracy and Counterfeiting (BNLPC) of the National Police conducted, on March 9, 2026, an operation to dismantle a clandestine network broadcasting television channels in Ouakam.
The police operation proceeded without incident in a room located on the second floor of a three-story building, not far from the Ouakam market. Upon arrival, officers from the National Brigade for the Fight Against Corruption (BNLPC) found no occupants in the premises housing the installation.
According to information gathered from a woman found on the ground floor of the building, the network is allegedly run by an individual named P. Sadio, without further details. She also indicated that all the building's occupants are tenants. She was given a summons to serve on the aforementioned individual.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of equipment used for the illegal broadcasting of television channels, according to Seneweb sources. This included 81 decoders (Canal+, Star Times, Star Track, Star Sat, BeIN Sports, TNT Senegal and Orange TV), 60 fiber optic receivers, four system racks, two solar batteries, a transmitter, and an Orange Wi-Fi modem.
Having been informed of the case, the Public Prosecutor ordered further investigations to identify and apprehend the suspected head of this clandestine network. Investigators from the National Brigade for the Fight Against Cybercrime (BNLPC) are continuing their inquiries to determine responsibility in this case of audiovisual piracy.
