Digitalisation de l’administration : Mbour parmi les communes pilotes du PRODAP
The municipality of Mbour is resolutely committed to modernizing its administrative services through the Project for the Promotion of the Digitalization of Public Administration (PRODAP), an initiative of Senegal Digital, supported by technical and financial partners, including KfW.
At the launch of the activities, Mayor Cheikh Issa Sall praised "an extremely important project" for improving public services. He expressed his gratitude to the State of Senegal, the Ministry of Finance, and the partners involved in developing the program.
According to him, digitalization is fully in line with the modernization of the administration.
"Our services must become faster, more transparent and closer to the people," he said, stressing the importance of a more efficient and accessible administration.
Chosen from among six pilot municipalities, alongside Dakar-Plateau, Rufisque, Kaffrine and Kaolack, Mbour stands out for its economic weight and strategic position.
"Mbour is a service hub and a crossroads to the south of the country, which reinforces the relevance of this choice," explained the mayor.
The project includes an assessment of existing digital systems in the municipality, with a view to upgrading and centralizing them. The objective is to build a fully digitalized local administration capable of offering accessible services to both local residents and the diaspora.
For his part, the PRODAP coordinator, Souleymane Ba, detailed the program's components. It is based on three main pillars: strengthening digital infrastructure, digitizing services and developing skills, and securing systems and data.
He also emphasized the importance of "change management," a phase that aims to gather the expectations of the population and local stakeholders through broad consultations. "The administration is at the service of the citizens. Any transformation must begin with their needs," he stated.
PRODAP is part of the national digital transformation strategy, in particular the New Technological Deal, which aims to make public services more efficient, accessible and secure.
In a context marked by growing concerns related to cybersecurity, the authorities assure that the protection of personal data will be a priority.
