The fight against organized crime, particularly drug trafficking and cybercrime, remains a strategic priority for the National Gendarmerie. The 2025 report presented this Thursday highlights significant results achieved through the strengthening of operational and technological capabilities.

During the year, anti-drug operations resulted in the seizure of 5,238 kilograms of Indian hemp and the arrest of 1,302 individuals, mostly involved in distribution networks operating in the informal sector.

The anti-drug units also intercepted 3,016 synthetic drug tablets, confirming the emergence of new forms of consumption and trafficking. Furthermore, a major seizure of 730 kilograms of cocaine, 630 kilograms of which were intercepted in Niodior, dealt a significant blow to international drug trafficking networks operating through Senegalese territory.

These results reflect the intensification of surveillance operations on roads, border areas and the coastline, identified as strategic corridors for drug trafficking.

At the same time, cybercrime is emerging as a growing threat linked to the digitalization of economic and social activities. In 2025, 99 cases of cybercrime were recorded and fully solved, with a high concentration in the Dakar region.

The offenses mainly involve online scams, digital identity theft, and financial fraud. In response to this trend, the National Gendarmerie has strengthened its cyber investigation and digital intelligence capabilities to better detect and dismantle these networks.

Looking ahead to 2026, the institution plans to fully operationalize the national center dedicated to digital investigations, aiming to strengthen the fight against technological crime and adapt the security response to new challenges.

Through these actions, the National Gendarmerie affirms its commitment to containing organized crime in all its forms and to providing lasting protection to populations against emerging threats.
