Trafic de médicaments psychotropes à Jaxaay : un faux docteur arrêté avec de fausses ordonnances

A suspected trafficker of psychotropic drugs was arrested by Commissioner Cheikh Ndiaye and his men in Jaxaay thanks to the vigilance of a pharmacist who detected a falsified prescription.

At around 1 p.m., Dr. PM Sagna, owner of the Manga pharmacy located in Jaxaay, went to the district police station to report that a suspicious individual had come to his pharmacy with a prescription that appeared to be a fake.

The pharmacist claims to have used a ruse, pretending that one of the requested medications was out of stock and asking the suspect to return around 4 p.m. so he could place the order. This trick was intended to allow the police to apprehend the suspect.

Armed with this information, the police station puts in place a strategy which allows them to arrest the suspect when he returns to the pharmacy.

The arrested individual identifies himself as B. Faye, 39 years old, presenting himself as a broker and residing in Pikine.

The prescription he holds is allegedly prescribed by Dr. M. Barry, a psychiatrist at the Mbao psychiatric hospital.

When questioned about the origin of the prescription, the accused changed his story and stated that he was a motorcycle taxi driver in Jakarta. He claimed that a client he met at the Mbao psychiatric hospital sent him to buy the prescription, according to Seneweb sources.

To verify his claims, a trip was made to the hospital. No client was found there. Even worse, there was no doctor by that name at the facility.

The search carried out on the suspect at the police station revealed other prescriptions of the same kind in his pockets, confirming that this was an organized trafficking operation.

According to Dr. Sagna, the medications sought by the accused (Valium and Artane) are only sold in pharmacies with a prescription duly issued by a licensed physician. These substances have psychotropic effects and can be considered drugs if used without a proper prescription.

B. Faye was taken into custody for forgery and use of forged documents, illegal trafficking of prescription drugs, and impersonating a public official. The public prosecutor's office has been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
