Trafic de drogue à Thiaroye : saisie d’ecstasy dans une poussette à café et arrestation de deux suspects
On August 7, 2025, the Thiaroye District Police Station dismantled a drug trafficking network at the exit of the bridge leading to the Thiaroye central market, following operational intelligence.
Police arrested a first suspect in possession of a coffee stroller used as a blanket. A search revealed a bag containing four ecstasy tablets, a synthetic drug popular in party circles. When questioned, the individual indicated that the stroller belonged to his brother, who was quickly located and arrested.
A search of the suspects' homes resulted in the seizure of:
- 50 Tapendatol tablets (divided into 5 packs), an opioid often diverted for recreational purposes
- 6 packets of Tramaking, a drug under surveillance
- 80 packs of Roson cigarettes
- 28 empty cigarette packs
- 3 packs of Excellence cigarettes
- 2 packs of Marlboro cigarettes
- 54,250 FCFA in cash
The two suspects, who were taken into custody, are being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy and drug trafficking. The investigation is continuing to identify possible accomplices and determine the scope of the network. The police are calling for vigilance and urging the public to report any suspicious activity via the toll-free numbers: 17 or 800 00 12 12.
