What the mother mistook for a spell was actually an advanced pregnancy. Behind the back room of a neighborhood shop in Ndangane, a minor was being repeatedly abused under duress and blackmail. Her alleged abuser, ST Sow, also known as Ousmane, a 45-year-old shopkeeper, was taken into custody on March 9, 2026.
On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor at the High Court of Kaolack, the central police station arrested the shopkeeper residing in Ndangane, for rape of a minor under sixteen years of age resulting in pregnancy according to Seneweb sources.
The first to be heard, the victim's mother, NG Bâ, recounted that she only discovered her daughter's condition much later. The symptoms that worried her (persistent vomiting and a swollen abdomen) had initially been interpreted as a sign of witchcraft. A hospital examination finally confirmed a seven-month pregnancy.
It was at this moment that she denounced the accused: a trusted neighbor and shopkeeper, who, according to her, had used blackmail tactics to force her daughter into repeated sexual relations.
Interviewed under the protection of minors, F. Mané confirmed the facts. She explained that she had given in under the threat of a slanderous denunciation affecting her private life, and precisely identified the suspect's back room as the sole location of the abuse.
Investigators immediately searched the premises. Their findings corroborated the minor's testimony point by point: mattresses placed directly on the floor, a television facing the entrance, a room used as a storage area, a wooden swing door, and a two-tone orange and white decor. This perfect match between the victim's description and the reality of the premises constitutes a decisive piece of incriminating evidence.
Faced with this evidence, ST Sow maintains his denials. Due to the victim's age and the vitiation of consent established by blackmail, the acts are classified as rape of a minor under the Penal Code. He was taken into custody on March 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM. The public prosecutor's office has been notified. An investigation is underway.
