Éducation : la Ville de Dakar et « Bosembo Deggu » s’unissent pour forger des citoyens modèles
The City of Dakar hosted the presentation ceremony for the "Law, Civics, and Citizenship" program on Thursday, February 12th. This large-scale project, conducted in collaboration with the "Bosembo Deggu" institution, was implemented in 14 schools, training 3,000 students on their rights and responsibilities. Led by a panel of academics, sociologists, lawyers, and judges, this initiative enabled young learners to broaden their general knowledge while grasping the importance of responsibility in exercising their freedoms.

An ambition for expansion for the youth of Dakar
The Deputy Mayor of Dakar, Mr. Ndiaye, emphasized the crucial importance of this project for the future of children, who represent the future of the country. He pledged to expand the program throughout the Dakar department, while thanking the Regional Education Authority and the experts who supported the process. For Ndèye Maguette Sow Niasse, Director General of "Bosembo Deggu" and initiator of the project, this collaboration with the municipality is a major success. "We are very honored to have been able to organize this presentation ceremony with the Dakar City Hall," said Ms. Niasse, explaining that the training allowed students to freely express their expectations. She added that "this training revealed the intelligence of the students, who are ready to commit to a noble cause such as civic engagement."

Combating incivility in schools
The Dakar Regional Education Inspector, Cheikh Faye, praised the high-quality training, which helps students understand that one person's freedom ends where another's begins. According to him, this program aligns perfectly with the Ministry of National Education's policy of promoting civic values to combat indiscipline. Mr. Faye called for strengthening the program so that future phases can be extended to new schools under optimal conditions.

Concrete results on student behavior
Pape Konaré Diaité, Director of Education and Social Integration for the Dakar City Hall, reaffirmed the institution's clear vision to improve city security through education. According to him, the project's impact is already tangible, with a noticeable improvement in student behavior and a decrease in disciplinary problems. The goal now is to further expand the project's inclusivity by integrating other institutions working in the same field to ensure the sustainability of these civic achievements.
