Emploi au Sénégal : L’État mise sur une nouvelle politique nationale inclusive et participative

The Government of Senegal has embarked on a broad, participatory, and decentralized process to develop a new national employment policy. This initiative, led by the Directorate of Employment, aims to provide concrete responses to the persistent challenges of unemployment, particularly among youth and women, while taking into account local socioeconomic realities and changes in the labor market.

It is within this framework that a special regional development committee (CRD) was held this Thursday in Saint-Louis, under the supervision of the governor. The meeting brought together various local stakeholders to lay the foundations for an inclusive strategy, built on a thorough territorial assessment.

‎On behalf of the Minister of Labor, Employment and Relations with Institutions, Abass Fall, who was unable to attend, the labor inspector and technical advisor, Babacar Mbodj, recalled the importance of this approach: ‎"As part of the National Development Strategy 2025-2029, supported by the National Transformation Agenda: Senegal 2050, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, President of the Republic, instructed the development of a National Employment Policy consistent with Vision Senegal 2050."

According to him, the objective is clear: to promote a participatory and concerted approach that reflects the aspirations of the populations, the realities of the territories, and the specific priorities of each region. He also called for the active involvement of all stakeholders – local authorities, public employment and entrepreneurship services, decentralized services, young people and women – so that the consultations result in a solid regional diagnosis, accompanied by concrete recommendations.

"The development of an ambitious, inclusive and sustainable employment policy cannot be done without you," insisted Babacar Mbodj, before recalling that this approach is based on dialogue, shared responsibility and a collective vision looking to the future.

With this series of regional consultations, the State intends to lay the foundations for renewed employment governance and a national policy capable of meeting the expectations of the population and the requirements of sustainable development.

Merci beaucoup Diommaye, merci Sonko, merci Abass.
