Enquêtes criminelles : L'apport déterminant de l’Ucad à la police nationale
The association of the words UCAD and police generally evokes images of stone-throwing and tear gas, in short, violence. However, there is a long-standing scientific collaboration between the two institutions. This was evidenced by the remarks of the Director General of the National Police, Mame Seydou Ndour, during his visit to the university administration building yesterday.
Having come to sign an agreement with Ucad, the DGPN revealed that the scientific and technical staff of the national police benefit from the valuable expertise of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).
"The invaluable assistance of these faculties has enabled the technical and scientific police division of the judicial police to elucidate several criminal acts through the analysis and processing of samples obtained during the exploitation of crime scenes," reveals the Inspector General, Mame Seydou Ndour.
Rector Alioune Badara Kandji added that in addition to the two faculties, Ucad has other expertise and laboratories through ESP and ITNA (Institute of Applied Nuclear Technology).
It should also be noted that UCAD actively participates in the organization of the police entrance exam, as well as in the initial and continuing training of police officers by providing teachers to the Police Human Resources Directorate and the Training Directorate which manages the two training schools of the National Police.
To further this collaboration, the two entities signed a partnership agreement on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. This partnership, formalized on Tuesday morning, aims to lay the foundations for a new, dynamic and fruitful collaboration that involves identifying new challenges and opportunities.
The main axes are:
- Training and professional development of staff
- Exchange of expertise and best practices
- Organization of internships, seminars, conferences…
- Facilitating access to scientific knowledge through the exchange of documentation
- Promotion of any exchange that can enhance the value of both institutions or their staff.
