Evadé du Louvre : un fugitif français arrêté à l'AIBD
The manhunt is over for BM Diagne, a 25-year-old French national of Senegalese origin, after a daring escape in France. Libération reports that he was arrested this Tuesday at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass, as he attempted to seek refuge in his family's country of origin.
The young man escaped last Friday from the Nanterre Penitentiary Center during a cultural outing organized at the Louvre Museum, according to the same source. Incarcerated for theft and drug trafficking, with a release date scheduled for 2028, he took advantage of the visit to slip away from his guards.
His ordeal finally ended upon his arrival in Dakar, where he was traveling on an Air Senegal flight from Brussels. During police formalities, officers discovered he was the subject of an internal notice issued by Interpol at the request of the French judicial authorities. Following his arrest, BM Diagne was taken to Interpol's National Central Bureau in Dakar, where he was placed in pretrial detention pending extradition to France, the newspaper reports.
