La BR de Faidherbe démantèle un réseau de vol et de recel de motos aux ramifications internationales
The Faidherbe Research Brigade, under the Dakar gendarmerie company, dismantled a suspected network specializing in the theft and handling of stolen motorcycles, after a meticulous operation that led to arrests and the seizure of numerous vehicles.
A motorcycle with GPS tracking was the starting point of the investigation.
It all began on the night of April 18, 2026, with the theft of a motorcycle equipped with a GPS tracking system. Thanks to the signal emitted by the vehicle, investigators were able to trace it back to a suspicious residence, where several motorcycles were discovered, some showing clear signs of fraudulent origin.
Continuing their investigation, the gendarmes set up close surveillance which led to the arrest of four individuals identified by the initials MS, ABG, TAS (alias "Bouba"), and GK, all suspected of belonging to an organized gang. During their arrest, four Tmax motorcycles were also seized.
A network with national and international ramifications
According to Seneweb sources close to the investigation, the network operated between Dakar and Mbour, with ramifications in the interior of the country, notably towards Kaolack and Banjul, in Gambia, where some motorcycles were to be transported for resale, including to foreign nationals.
Analysis of the suspects' phone conversations confirmed the existence of a structured organization involved in recurring motorcycle theft activities.
Several vehicles were seized in total. Some have already been formally identified and returned to their rightful owners, including a student and a foreign national.
The four suspects were taken into custody on charges of conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen goods. The investigation is actively continuing to apprehend any accomplices and determine the true extent of this criminal network operating between Senegal and The Gambia.
