Tunnel Fann Bel Air: un chauffeur percute un motocycliste, le traîne sur plusieurs mètres avant de prendre la fuite...
A serious accident occurred on October 17, 2025, at around 1:30 p.m., in the Fann Bel Air ring road tunnel, near the Tapis Rouge. A Mercedes Benz coach violently collided with a Kymco moped, dragging its driver for several meters before disappearing into the tunnel.
According to the Accident Section of the Traffic Company of the Central Police Station of Dakar, the bus driver, after knocking down the victim, continued on his way without stopping or alerting emergency services. Believing he was out of sight, he abandoned the seriously injured motorcyclist on the road.
Alerted by telephone, the firefighters quickly evacuated the victim to Fann Hospital, before transferring him to Idrissa Pouye Hospital in Grand-Yoff, due to the seriousness of his injuries to his right leg.
Two witnesses, who were riding their motorcycles from Fann Hock to Fass Colobane, witnessed the entire incident. They claim to have seen the bus hit the moped from behind as it was traveling on the far right of the lane. Despite their pleas and those of other road users, the driver continued on his way to Cheikh Anta Diop University, refusing to stop for the usual traffic ticket.
It was finally at the COUD roundabout that the at-fault driver was stopped by police officers alerted by witnesses. According to initial evidence, he initially denied any involvement, brandishing a wheel wrench to intimidate witnesses. The officers then seized the vehicle's parts and took the suspect to the Point E Police Station, before handing him over to the Accident Section.
When questioned by investigators, the driver admitted hitting the motorcyclist, while attempting to blame the victim, whom he accused of attempting to overtake on the right on a narrow road. He also admitted to fleeing the scene, only stopping when police intervened.
The victim's sister, informed by their mother, went to the hospital where her brother is being treated. She reports that he has multiple fractures and will have to undergo surgery on his right knee.
Still hospitalized in Idrissa Pouye, the victim has not yet been able to be officially questioned, but confirmed by telephone that he was hit by a fleeing bus.
Brought before the public prosecutor on October 20, 2025, the driver will have to answer for his actions.
