Fatick : 2 pirates déférés par la police pour diffusion frauduleuse de programmes télévisés, plus de 7 millions F CFA de matériel saisis
The urban security unit of the central police station in Fatick presented two individuals before the public prosecutor at the Fatick High Court on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. They are being prosecuted for piracy, image theft, and complicity, according to Seneweb sources.
The case was initiated by a referral from the public prosecutor's office, which had received a complaint filed by the law firm Houda. Houda represents the interests of STARTIMES, SUPERSPORT, beIN Sport France, and beIN MEDIA GROUP LLC. These companies complained that the expansion of their activities was being hampered by the proliferation of analog exchanges operated by pirates. These installations allowed their operators to illegally broadcast copyrighted content and programs for a fee.
Investigations conducted in Fatick led to the location and dismantling of two analog exchanges located in the Ndiaye-Ndiaye and Mboubane neighborhoods. AB and A. F. were arrested. Police also seized the piracy equipment: approximately one hundred decoders of various brands (Canal+, TNT by Exacaf, Star Say, New World, beIN Sport, STARTIMES, DSTV, MSP, Star X, TNT Africa, IPTV, etc.), fiber optic transmitters, Wi-Fi modems, fiber optic receivers, and system racks.
The confiscated equipment was valued at 7,750,000 CFA francs. The ringleaders, whose identities have been established, are the subject of an active police manhunt.
