Fatick : 3 trafiquants de chanvre indien interpellés, un réseau démantelé par la police
The Fatick central police station has put an end to the activities of a drug trafficking network by arresting three individuals. The operation resulted in the seizure of 25 bags of Indian hemp, nine joints, and a sum of cash.
An anti-drug operation led by the Fatick police has dealt a serious blow to the small-scale trafficking of Indian hemp in the locality. The intervention, triggered by a simple security patrol.
A revealing smell
The case began during a routine security mission in the Fatick neighborhoods. The attention of law enforcement was drawn to a strong odor of Indian hemp emanating from a home. This suspicious scent prompted the police to conduct an on-site investigation.
Their intuition proved correct as soon as they arrived at the house in question. They discovered an individual smoking a joint in front of the gate of the residence, confirming their suspicions.
First arrest and discoveries
The smoker, caught in the act, was immediately arrested and subjected to a body search. This operation revealed the presence of nine joints hidden in his pockets. Confronted with the facts, the man claimed to have acquired these narcotics solely for his personal use.
Investigations based on the first suspect's statements allowed police to trace the network. Their search led them to the Darou Salam neighborhood, where they located the alleged supplier, according to Seneweb sources.
The search of the alleged supplier's home proved particularly productive. The police seized a large stash of narcotics: 25 plastic bags containing Indian hemp, carefully hidden in the bathroom of the house.
Seizure of money and evidence of trafficking
In addition to the narcotics, investigators also seized 3,000 CFA francs, identified as proceeds from drug sales. This sum, although modest, constitutes tangible evidence of illegal business activity.
The total seizures - 25 bags of Indian hemp, 9 joints and the money - demonstrate the relative size of this small local distribution network.
The three individuals arrested are facing prosecution for trafficking, possession, and use of Indian hemp. But the case doesn't end there: investigators are continuing their investigations to identify and arrest anyone involved in this network.
