Fédé de foot : 360 millions F CFA par an, l’immeuble d’un Lion pollue l’ambiance
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), which moved to Liberté 6 Extension three years ago, is reportedly preparing to relocate to the Keur Gorgui district. The federation has apparently leased a brand-new building in this mixed residential and business area, owned by a current Senegalese international player. The rent is 30 million CFA francs per month, or 360 million per year.
According to L'Observateur, which provides the information, the stated ambition of the president of the FSF, Abdoulaye Fall, designated as the "solo" initiator of this project, is to bring together on a single platform all the services and branches of the body.
And to make the project more palatable, the daily newspaper reports, it is claimed that it would be financed by sponsors. But the initiative is causing friction. A source within the FSF's Executive Committee (Comex) told L'Observateur that "so far, no sponsor has signed on to pay." However, those within the federation who have reservations about this relocation project cite two reasons, according to the newspaper.
First, the FSF could have saved money by setting up shop in Point E in a building it owns and recently reclaimed after a lengthy legal battle. Moreover, the same source adds, the space in question would be "more suitable than the family apartments in Keur Gorgui, which are poorly suited to professional offices."
The second argument is that the FSF's budgetary priorities lie elsewhere. "Some members of the Executive Committee are asking, 'Why rent at exorbitant prices when we owe money to referees and clubs?'" reports L'Observateur. The newspaper indicates that the issue is expected to be on the agenda of the next Executive Committee meeting on Monday. According to an opponent of the Keur Gorgui relocation project, quoted in the Groupe Futurs Médias daily newspaper, this body is the only one authorized to approve such an initiative.
