Feuve Sénégal : une vedette de la Marine chavire, 3 militaires portés disparus
A serious maritime incident occurred this Thursday morning, February 12, 2026, at the mouth of the Senegal River. "A patrol boat of the National Navy capsized at the mouth of the Senegal River this morning around 9 a.m.," while engaged in "a liaison mission," reports the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (DIRPA).
According to reports, the vessel "encountered heavy swells following deteriorating weather conditions," causing it to capsize. The incident immediately triggered a large-scale mobilization of emergency services.
The preliminary report indicates that "10 survivors and three military personnel are missing." While rescue operations have recovered the wreckage of the patrol boat, the fate of the three sailors remains the authorities' priority.
The DIRPA finally indicates that "extensive searches involving air, sea and land resources are continuing to find the three missing people."
