Lutte contre la contrebande : Une moto chargée de cigarettes saisie à Daloto, deux suspects en fuite
Elements of the Salémata surveillance and intervention squadron, in an advanced post in the village of Daloto, carried out an anti-smuggling operation on Thursday, February 19, 2026, which resulted in the seizure of a motorcycle and a large quantity of cigarettes.
The intervention follows the exploitation of intelligence reporting the circulation of three motorcycles transporting contraband goods in the area located in the commune of Missira Sirimana, in the department of Saraya.
Alerted, the officers quickly deployed towards the village of Daloto. Upon their arrival, a chase ensued through the rural tracks. Two motorcycles managed to escape, while the third motorcyclist abandoned his machine after a fall and disappeared into the surrounding countryside.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a blue TVS motorcycle and two and a half bags containing 294 cartons of contraband cigarettes. The seized items were handed over to the Saraya brigade for the purposes of the investigation.
The gendarmerie indicates that investigations are continuing in order to identify and arrest the individuals involved in this trafficking, in a context of strengthening the fight against smuggling in this border area of Senegal.
