Fimela : 790 kg de chanvre indien saisis, 4 membres du réseau déférés par la SR de Kaolack
The investigation conducted by the Kaolack Research Section (SR) into the major double seizure of Indian hemp in Fimela has just taken a decisive turn. Four suspects, including three alleged transporters and one identified owner, were brought before the Fatick High Court following their detention.
An initial seizure of 580 kg took place during the night of November 16-17.
It all began on the night of November 16-17, 2025, when the Fimela territorial gendarmerie brigade seized 19 bags of Indian hemp, with a total estimated weight of 580 kg. The perpetrators of this initial raid had already fled, but this seizure would serve as the starting point for a large-scale operation to dismantle the network.
Given the scale of the events, the investigation was immediately handed over to the Research Section (SR) of Kaolack, which launched in-depth investigations.
The investigation helps to identify the owners and the transporters.
The investigators from the Regional Criminal Investigation Service (SR) quickly identified several key players in the trafficking operation: the owners of the merchandise and the couriers responsible for its transport. Initial findings also revealed that a remainder of the shipment was due for delivery in the days following the first seizure.
A return visit to the scene resulted in a second seizure of 210 kg
This information was confirmed the following night. Indeed, during the night of November 17-18, 2025, the gendarmes returned to the presumed landing site. Their intuition proved correct: seven more bags, containing 210 kg of cannabis, were discovered and seized.
Continuing their investigation, the investigators identified MD, MD, and AD as the drivers involved in transporting the product. They also established the role of SN, identified as one of the owners of the cargo.
The four suspects have been arrested, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office. During questioning, they admitted to importing the drugs from Gambia to Senegal aboard a pirogue piloted by a man named AS, for the benefit of SN.
In addition to the drugs seized, totaling 790 kg, investigators from the Kaolack SR also seized 80,000 CFA francs and two motorcycles, used in the trafficking operation.
The 4 suspects were brought before the court in Fatick.
At the end of the procedure, the four individuals arrested were brought before the High Court of Fatick, where they will have to answer for the charges of criminal association and international drug trafficking.
This operation, carried out jointly by the Fimela brigade and the Kaolack Research Section, marks a new victory in the fight against drug trafficking in Sine-Saloum.
