Fin de cavale : le meurtrier présumé de son épouse tombe en Gambie
B. Sonko, wanted for the murder of his wife, B. Mandiang, was arrested in Gambia after ten days on the run and later handed over to the gendarmes in Sédhiou. The arrest was made possible thanks to close cooperation between the Gambian police and the Senegalese gendarmerie.
The tragedy took place on October 9th in Samakoung (Sedhiou department), L'Observateur rewinds. Driven by blind jealousy, the suspect violently beat his wife, a mother of four children, after suspecting her of infidelity.
Seriously injured, the victim was discreetly evacuated by her husband's family to the Ziguinchor regional hospital. She finally succumbed to her injuries a few hours later.
Fearing arrest, the husband fled and crossed the border to seek refuge in Gambia. He was located in the village of Bourfout, where his arrest ended ten days on the run. According to a judicial source quoted by the Groupe Futur Médias daily, the suspect admitted the facts. His referral to the Sédhiou prosecutor's office for intentional homicide is imminent.
