Inondation à Tambacounda : une dame de 62 ans meurt au cours de son évacuation
The torrential rains recorded in Tambacounda (152 mm) between Wednesday and Thursday caused one loss of life. This is a woman named Aïssatou Kanté, aged 62. She was trapped by the waters in her room in the Médina Coura district.
The floods also injured one person and caused significant material damage: houses were destroyed and roads were cut off, including the main road leading to the Pont district.
Local and administrative authorities have been travelling through the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance to the affected population.
A month earlier, the overflow of the Mamacounda Valley caused flooding and the collapse of house walls. The victims remain homeless. They are awaiting assistance from the authorities to rebuild their homes.
