Guy Marius Sagna, député Pastef
Guy Marius Sagna, a member of parliament from the Pastef party (the majority), reacted to the launch of the "Senegal Solidarity" foundation yesterday, Wednesday, at Dalal Jamm Hospital, in the presence of the two First Ladies, Marie Khoné and Absa Faye. But he did so with restraint.
“Attention! A president of the Republic has the right to be ‘intimate’ with their spouse, but they should do so with their own money, not that of the Senegalese people,” he posted on his social media. He added: “There are dedicated structures for social welfare. Refounding, not a foundation!”
In another tweet, he added: “What we expected from the President of the Republic was that he himself would reduce the powers and budgets that his predecessors wrested from the ministries to concentrate them in the presidential palace. Instead, he gives us a foundation of First Ladies that reinforces the neo-colonial presidentialism that we consider one of the causes of Senegal’s situation over the last six decades.”
