The tragic disappearance of Second Lieutenant Mamadou Ndour, a Water and Forestry officer found dead in his room in Sédhiou, has sparked deep emotion within the nation. This young officer, described as disciplined, pious, and devoted to his profession, was appreciated by both his colleagues and his community.

At the funeral held in Takhikao Thiès, his spiritual guide, Cheikh Bara Lahad Mbacké, paid him a vibrant tribute while sending a strong message to society.

"Mamadou was my disciple. I myself celebrated his marriage while I was in Mecca," confided his marabout. "He was a fervent Mouride, deeply attached to the work of Serigne Touba and driven by a remarkable sense of duty," he said.

In his sermon, the religious leader prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased before calling on the faithful to be upright, pious, and restrained, particularly in the face of verbal excesses observed on social media. The marabout particularly criticized the excesses on social media during funerals.

Married for 2 years, he leaves behind a child

"We must think about the day we leave this world. The verbal abuse we hear every day on social media is not worthy of a person from a good family. Before insulting others, think about your father or mother if the remarks you make to others were directed at them," he noted.

Sheikh Bara Lahad Mbacké also urged parents to provide for their families through lawful means, recalling that "ill-gotten gains never benefit."

The marabout also emphasized the vanity of material wealth and the need for a life based on faith and integrity. "However wealthy one may be, however majestic one's home, one can only occupy one bed. And that bed is no bigger than the grave that awaits us. True power belongs to Allah," he concluded.

Emotions ran high among the relatives, colleagues, and faithful who came in large numbers to accompany the young officer to his final resting place. Second Lieutenant Mamadou Ndour leaves behind the image of a respectful, hardworking, and deeply religious man, whose untimely passing serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the need to always remain on the path of good. Married for two years, Mamadou Ndour leaves behind a child and a wife.
