Gardien de but tué au Ghana : un homme et une femme suspects arrêtés

L. and O. Niang, presented as brother and sister, were arrested by the National Division for the Fight against Migrant Trafficking and Related Practices (DNLT). Their names were given by a certain Aboubakry Sy, their alleged victim.

Back home, after the failure of his planned trip to Europe with a stopover in Ghana, he filed a complaint against the two accused and revealed that they were on their way to Senegal by land, via Mali. An objection was filed against the suspects, who were trapped in Kidira during a check.

According to the Libération story, which revealed this affair, Aboubakry Sy was approached by O. Niang, who heard about his plan to travel to Europe. The latter, the newspaper continues, led him to believe that she was living in Germany, where she had emigrated thanks to her brother L. Niang. He accepted the Niangs' offer, which was operating from Ghana and not Germany, as claimed: 2.8 million CFA francs to fulfill his dream.

Sy paid part of the sum. The plan was to travel to Ghana, meet with their Burkinabe contact, who would be responsible for handing over the documents for the supposed trip to Europe. Once there, the complainant discovered that the plan was a sham, that he had been caught in the net of "a fraudulent network involving several West African nationals." He managed to escape and return home by land.

When filing his complaint, he informed the police that L. and O. Niang had decided to leave Ghana after the Cheikh Touré affair broke out, the young goalkeeper who was kidnapped and then killed in the country while he was dreaming of becoming a professional footballer in Europe.

Facing investigators, the latter denied any connection with the Cheikh Touré affair. They stated, according to Libération, that they had never met the young goalkeeper.

And while they admitted the accusations brought against them by Aboubakry Sy, LO Niang swear they were themselves trapped by the network operating from Ghana and led by a Burkinabé named D. Samadou.
