Géopolitique de l'eau : Aminata Touré vante les succès de l'OMVS à Munich
On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Aminata Touré, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic, participated in a high-level panel entitled "Spotlight on the Geopolitics of Water." Faced with what she described as a "universal intensification of local or geopolitical conflicts linked to the scarcity and sharing of fresh water," she advocated for a collaborative approach inspired by the West African model.
Ms. Touré notably invited the international community to draw inspiration from the "wisdom of the 4 African countries of Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea and Mali" which, as early as 1972, created the OMVS for "integrated and sustainable management of the Senegal River basin".
For the Special Envoy, this organization is proof that "when Africa unites to defend its own interests, it wins." She concluded her remarks by stating that "African unity is the best lever for definitively eradicating poverty and ensuring the security of African peoples."
