Goudomp : Le cri de détresse des éleveurs face à l’insécurité
The Goudomp department resonated today with a peaceful march organized by livestock farmers. Exasperated by repeated thefts and, even more seriously, by the murders of their fellow herders, the farmers are demanding concrete measures from state authorities.
Meanwhile, the herders, through their spokesperson Ibrahima Mendy, have presented two major demands to the authorities. They are formally requesting the state's right to arm themselves to ensure the protection of their herds.
According to them, against the often heavily armed criminals operating in this border area, sticks and flashlights are no longer enough. "We are not asking for weapons to attack, but to protect our livelihoods and our lives," Ibrahima Mendy insisted.
Emotions ran high when the four farmers, cowardly murdered in recent months, were mentioned. The group demands that the truth be revealed about these tragedies. To this day, the families are still waiting for the perpetrators to be identified, arrested, and brought to justice.
