Gouloum-Béthio : Sept jeunes arrêtés et deux blessés, le véhicule de la SDER caillassé dans des affrontements entre populations et gendarmes
Tensions were high this Wednesday morning in the village of Gouloum-Béthio, in the commune of Kamb in the department of Linguère. Gendarmes from Yang-Yang and local residents clashed. Several arrests were made and significant material damage was reported.
According to a Seneweb source, the locals opposed the Senegalese Rural Water Company (SDER) when it came to recover their borehole. In the aftermath, the youth of Gouloum-Béthio ordered the SDER agents to leave the village. To avoid tensions, ten gendarmes from Yang-Yang were dispatched to maintain order.
Unfortunately, the situation quickly escalated when the men in blue began firing tear gas to disperse the crowd. Seven youths were arrested and taken to the Yang-Yang gendarmerie brigade, and two people were injured and evacuated to the Gouloum health center. The SDER vehicle was stoned and several chairs were broken during these clashes.

L’Etat doit rectifier le tir et confier l’exploitation de l’hydraulique rurale à des sociétés nationales. Ve secteur est actuellement dominé par des privés, avec des capitaux majoritairement étrangers pour la plupart, qui cherchent des bénéfices et de gros salaires. Après une phase transitoire avec les sociétés nationales, l’Etat pourra intégrer dans le capital le privé national et les populations locales souvent écartées (d’où leur réticence). Il y a suffisamment de sénégalais compétents et expérimentés dans la gestion et l’exploitation de l’hydraulique urbaine et rurale, ils peuvent travailler pour leur pays et leurs terroirs.
