The investigation unit of the Greater Dakar District Police Station arrested two young men on the night of Friday, September 19, 2025, at around 11 p.m., for cell phone theft. A thorough investigation led to the identification of the suspects.

The police took two individuals to the police station who identified themselves as follows:

S.Diallo born in 2004. He works as a mechanic and lives in Niary Tally. I.Mballo, born in 2004, works as a carpenter and lives in Grand Dakar.

During a routine patrol in the area, the two young men were stopped while riding a motorcycle. It was during this identity check that law enforcement discovered they were in possession of a cell phone whose origin seemed questionable.

Faced with this suspicious situation, they were taken to the service headquarters for the purposes of the investigation.

Continuing their investigations, the investigators proceeded to unlock the cell phone. This technical step proved decisive: the investigator managed to contact the victim's brother, who formally confirmed that the cell phone had been stolen.

Formal identification

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the phone's legitimate owner, Mr. Konté, presented himself to the police. He formally identified his phone before recounting the circumstances of his mishap, thus providing the final elements necessary for the investigation.

Faced with the evidence gathered against them and the overwhelming testimony, the two accused had no choice but to admit the facts with which they are accused.

The suspects were taken into custody and are now facing prosecution for:

- Criminal association

- Snatch theft

- Crime committed at night using a means of transport
